Background
Iwrite music from an idea on the piano or guitar, usually after something has positively inspired me. It could be after watching a film, or after a talk with someone.
Initially, I started out by writing and producing my own songs and releasing them myself. However, creating instrumental music has always been my true passion. From an early age I have been hypnotised by the power of film music and its immense breadth of emotional expression – so this feels like a natural step forward for me.
My styles vary from solo piano to underscores – from intimate cues to fully realised orchestral pieces. I have also worked on a hybrid of contemporary (rock/pop/electronic/acoustic) and orchestral – this may better suit the needs of a project.
On the orchestral side, it would be a dream come true to record with real musicians, however this is not always possible due to budget and time constraints. I record, program and mix in Cubase using some of the best sample libraries available from some of the most innovative companies.
I also try to incorporate my own live instruments wherever possible – including guitars, piano, bass, kalimba, bongos, shakers, tambourines and sometimes – even my own hand-slapped knees!
My music has been licensed by companies including ESPN, MTV, Getty Images, ABC, Ogilvy and Kaiser Permanente.
